Nigeria : Goodluck to President Jonathan

Let me wish goodluck to the Nigerian President elect as he assumes office on the 29th May. Many have gone before him and have failed to address the needs and aspirations of ordinary Nigerians. The Human Rights Watch, in an article captioned Nigeria: President Should Make Human Rights Priority ,advised that Nigeria's President, Goodluck Jonathan, should take immediate and concrete steps to address pervasive human rights problems in Nigeria. He should focus in particular on large-scale violence, endemic corruption, and a lack of accountability for abuses.
I concur and in addition I would add that the definition of Human Rights includes the access by all to essential social services like the provision of potable water, electricity, educational facilities and sanitation. Nigeria is the biggest Nation in Africa and most probably the wealthiest. It is pathetic to see how Nigerians live in their cities devoid of these essential services.
The challenge for President Jonathan is to re-orientate the minds of all Nigerians to focus on the original idea of the commonwealth of the people of Nigeria, as envisaged by founding fathers like Herbert Macaulay, Nnamdi Azikiwe and Obafemi Awolowo, to move them away from the state of nature which they so clearly are still in, even after 51 years of independence.
He should also tackle the negative image of Nigerians portrayed by members of a particular tribe who give the whole world  an impression that all Nigerians are crooks.
